Add Business Billing Details and a Tax ID
Add or update your legal billing name, address, VAT or tax ID, and download Postscale invoices through Stripe.
TL;DR
Enter your legal billing name, complete billing address, and optional VAT or tax ID during Stripe Checkout. Owners and admins of existing paid accounts can update the same information from Dashboard > Settings > Manage Billing. Changes apply to future invoices; previously finalized invoices keep the details captured when they were issued.
What you will learn
- Add the correct billing identity for a business or an individual
- Update a legal name, billing address, or VAT/tax ID through Stripe
- Find and download subscription invoices
- Understand that collecting a customer tax ID is separate from calculating tax
Postscale uses Stripe for subscription payments, customer billing profiles, and subscription invoices. Your payment details stay in Stripe, while Postscale keeps the Stripe customer reference associated with your organization.
Choose the correct billing identity
Use the legal identity that should appear on your invoices.
Business or organization
Provide:
- the registered company or organization name
- the complete billing address, including country and postal code
- a VAT number or another supported tax ID, when applicable
- the billing email address used by your accounts-payable contact
Enter a tax ID in its official format, including the country prefix where required. Stripe shows the identifier types supported for the selected country.
Individual
Provide:
- your legal name
- your complete billing address
- your preferred billing email address
- a tax ID only when you have an applicable identifier to record
You do not need a company name or tax ID to purchase Postscale as an individual.
Add details during Checkout
When you upgrade to a paid Postscale plan:
- Choose the plan and continue to Stripe Checkout.
- Enter the legal name that should appear on the billing profile.
- Enter the required billing address.
- Select the business-purchase option if Stripe offers it for your location.
- Add the VAT or other tax ID, if applicable.
- Review the billing details and total before confirming payment.
Stripe saves the legal name, billing address, and tax ID to the customer linked to your Postscale organization. Future subscription invoices use this billing profile.
Free accounts do not need a Stripe billing profile. They provide billing details when an owner or admin upgrades the organization.
Update existing billing details
Owners and admins of paid organizations can update billing information without changing the Postscale organization profile:
- Sign in to Postscale.
- Open Dashboard > Settings.
- Find the current plan section.
- Select Manage Billing.
- In Stripe, open the billing-information controls.
- Update the legal name, email address, billing address, phone number, or tax ID.
- Save the changes and return to Postscale.
Members cannot manage organization billing. Ask an owner or admin if Manage Billing is not available.
Download an invoice
To retrieve an invoice:
- Open Dashboard > Settings > Manage Billing.
- Find Invoice history in Stripe.
- Select the invoice and download the available invoice or receipt.
An invoice keeps the customer details captured when Stripe finalized it. Updating the billing profile changes future invoices but does not rewrite older finalized invoices.
If an existing invoice needs review, contact support@email.postscale.io with the invoice number and the correction needed. Never send card details by email.
VAT and other tax IDs
A customer tax ID identifies you or your organization for billing. Saving that identifier is separate from deciding whether a transaction is taxable and from calculating the applicable amount.
Add the tax ID to the billing profile with its matching legal name and registered address. When tax applies, Stripe displays it in Checkout before you complete payment and records it on the resulting invoice.
Common issues
Stripe rejects the tax ID
Check the selected billing country and identifier type, then enter the official value with its country prefix when required. Confirm that the legal name and registered address match the identifier.
Checkout does not show the tax-ID form
Stripe displays tax-ID collection according to the billing location and the customer information already saved. If the organization already has a tax ID, use Manage Billing to review or update it.
New details are missing from an old invoice
This is expected for a finalized invoice. The new profile applies to future invoices. Contact Postscale support when an existing invoice requires review.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I add my company name and VAT number to Postscale invoices?
- Yes. Enter the legal business name, complete billing address, and VAT or other supported tax ID during Checkout, or update them later through Manage Billing. The saved details appear on future invoices.
- Can an individual use personal billing details?
- Yes. Use your legal personal name and billing address. A tax ID is optional and should only be added when you have an applicable identifier for billing purposes.
- Does adding a VAT number automatically add tax?

- Can I change an invoice that has already been issued?
- Updating your Stripe billing profile affects future invoices. Previously finalized invoices retain the billing information captured when they were issued. Contact Postscale support if an existing invoice needs review.
